IMD Alert: Possibility of Thunderstorms and Rainfall in Several States Including Haryana-Punjab; Bihar and West Bengal May Experience Intense Heat
The month of April is halfway through, signaling the impending heat of May that will soon be felt across the country. However, due to western disturbances, some states might witness rainfall. According to the weather department, there is a threat of heatwave in Bihar and West Bengal. Additionally, between April 18th and 21st, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan may experience light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Impact of Western Disturbances
As per the Meteorological Forecasting Agency Skymet, a trough of low pressure and a cyclonic circulation is hovering about 5.8 km above the mean sea level, approximately 68 degrees east longitude and 32 degrees north latitude. Consequently, a cyclonic circulation is forming in eastern Bihar and neighboring areas.
Likewise, parts of eastern Vidarbha are also witnessing the formation of cyclonic circulations. Consequently, a fresh western disturbance is expected to approach the western Himalayan region by April 18th.
Weather Outlook for Delhi
According to forecasts until April 18th, the weather in Delhi will remain pleasant, with clear skies and temperatures reaching up to 38 degrees Celsius. During this time, there is also a possibility of strong winds. As per the weather department, there is a chance of light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in Delhi on April 19th and 20th. The maximum temperature in Delhi this week is expected to range between 34 to 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to be between 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.
Weather Conditions Across Different Regions of the Country
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Agency Skymet, in the next 24 hours, Arunachal Pradesh may experience light to moderate rainfall and snowfall in some parts of the western Himalayas. Additionally, between April 18th and 21st, there is a possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in the western Himalayas, accompanied by light to moderate rainfall and snowfall.
Light rainfall and snowfall may occur in parts of the western Himalayas on April 19th. Moreover, between April 18th and 21st, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan may experience light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, with wind speeds ranging from 30-40 kilometers per hour.
