The Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was initiated by the central government on December 1, 2018, with the aim of strengthening the economic condition of farmers.
Under this scheme, an amount of Rs. 2,000 is deposited into farmers’ accounts every four months. This money can be used by farmers to purchase seeds and fertilizers for better farming practices.
The central government allocates an annual budget of around Rs. 7.20 crore for this scheme, which is directly transferred to farmers’ accounts. Recently, the 16th installment of this scheme was deposited into farmers’ accounts on February 28th. However, for those awaiting the 17th installment, this news might be disappointing.
Notice Sent to Ineligible Farmers
This scheme does not benefit government employees, pensioners, and income tax payers. Only one member per family, either the husband or wife, is eligible to receive the benefits of this scheme. Due to this, many farmers had not received this amount for the past two years.
During an inspection, notices were issued to nearly 100 ineligible farmers, and recovery was made from 22 ineligible farmers. Some farmers have stopped receiving this amount altogether.
Nearly 100 Farmers Are Affected
Some farmers have still not received the money in their accounts. The reason behind this is that the work of updating E-KYC and NPICSI is still pending for many farmers.
This work can also be done by farmers from the comfort of their homes using their mobile phones. They can also seek assistance from CSC centers and agricultural coordinators of their panchayats. After this, the money will start flowing into their accounts.
