Bhopal Rail Division Collects Over 27 Crore in Fines from Ticketless Travelers in One Year

The Bhopal Rail Division of the Western Central Railway has reported collecting fines exceeding 270 million rupees from ticketless travelers during the fiscal year 2023-24. This significant revenue was amassed through rigorous ticket inspections by railway officials, resulting in the identification of 366,516 cases of passengers traveling without tickets or with improper tickets. Among these cases, fines totaling 276,072,990 rupees were levied.

The division also cracked down on irregular ticket holders

Detecting 353,113 instances and recovering fines amounting to 173,986,305 rupees. Additionally, 3,102 cases of passengers traveling without booking their luggage were identified, resulting in the collection of 644,895 rupees in fines.

The total number of such cases reached 722,731 during the fiscal year

Contributing to approximately 450,704,190 rupees in railway revenue. Saurabh Kataria, Senior Commercial Manager of the division, expressed the commitment of the team to enhance railway revenue through diligent efforts. He emphasized the division’s dedication to providing complaint-free service to railway consumers while actively working towards increasing railway revenue.
