US Senator Praises PM Modi, Calls him the Face of India’s Development

In a significant acknowledgment, a senior US senator has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, hailing him as the face of India’s progress. Senator Brad Sherman, one of the prominent supporters of India in the US Congress, lauded PM Modi’s leadership, highlighting the strengthening of bilateral relations between both countries during his tenure. He also pointed out the challenge posed by India’s defense ties with Russia.

During an interview on Tuesday, Sherman remarked

“He (Modi) has become the face of India, and we have seen significant economic progress. Of course, every country faces its own challenges, and every leader has their own challenges. I don’t credit the success of any country to just one leader. I mean, you have more than 1.3 billion people working together to make India an even more successful country.”

Sherman, 68, a Democratic member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has been actively involved in strengthening India-US relations for the past 28 years. He emphasized the robustness of bilateral ties, especially in the defense sector, and highlighted the growing trade between the two nations. He expressed his desire to see further expansion in commercial relations between India and the US.

The senator also raised concerns about India’s defense relationship with Russia

Identifying it as a challenge for US-India relations. He stressed the importance of having an impartial and honest judicial system for the success of any business, contrasting India’s legal framework with those of other countries.

Senator Sherman’s praise for Prime Minister Modi reflects the growing significance of India in the international arena and the deepening ties between India and the United States. However, he also underscores the complexities and challenges inherent in navigating India’s relationships, particularly in the defense sector, which could impact broader bilateral engagements.
