Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s legal troubles continue to mount as a significant setback has emerged in his ongoing legal battle. Kejriwal, arrested in connection with a money laundering case related to Delhi’s liquor policy, has been denied any relief by the Supreme Court. He is now slated to remain in jail at least until April 29, as the court rejected his plea for an expedited hearing today, April 15.
The court has granted a two-week period for the investigating agency to respond to Kejriwal’s petition
Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, had sought an expedited hearing citing electoral commitments. However, the court ruled out an immediate hearing. Furthermore, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been directed to submit its response by April 24.
Kejriwal has not received any respite from the Supreme Court regarding his election campaign activities. The next hearing in this matter is scheduled for April 29. The Supreme Court has instructed the ED to provide answers to all queries by April 24, while Kejriwal must respond to the ED’s questions by April 27.
