Indian Navy: Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi to Assume Office as Chief on April 30

Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi has been chosen as the new Chief of the Indian Navy. He is set to take over from the current Chief, Admiral R. Hari Kumar. Tripathi has served in various important positions over his 40-year-long career, earning him the position of Chief of Naval Staff. He has previously served as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command and participated in several significant campaigns.

Career Journey to Navy Chief

Tripathi began his service in the Indian Navy in July 1985. He specializes in communication and electronic warfare and has commanded vessels like INS Kirch and INS Trishul. He has also served as the Executive Officer and Principal Warfare Officer of INS Mumbai.

Tripathi has been the Director General of Naval Operations and Chief of Staff at the Western Naval Command. He has made significant contributions to operational and staff appointments, demonstrating his leadership capabilities.

Educational Background

Tripathi received his education from prestigious institutions such as the Sainik School in Rewa, the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, and the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington. Additionally, he underwent training at the Naval Higher Command Course and the US Naval War College.

In June 2019, he was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral. Following this promotion, Tripathi was appointed as the Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala, Kerala.
