Good News for Thousands of Teachers and Employees, Salary Fixation on the Horizon

In a significant development, Bihar’s Department of Education is gearing up to fix the salaries of teachers and staff in Sanskrit and Madrasa schools. This move comes after the implementation of the fifth and sixth pay scales for teachers and employees since July 2023. The department has initiated preparations for salary fixation, signaling positive news for the thousands of educators and workers awaiting this crucial decision.

According to reports, the Patna High Court’s directive has prompted the state government to prepare for determining the salaries of around 13,000 teachers and employees working in Sanskrit and Madrasa institutions. The School Education Department has resolved to determine the salaries of these educators based on the re-evaluation of the fifth and sixth pay scales. This decision encompasses 1659 subsidized Sanskrit schools and 531 Madrasas, ensuring a broad impact across the educational sector.

To facilitate this process

The department has requested records related to human resources from all relevant Sanskrit schools and Madrasas. These records are to be submitted to the pre-audit cell for verification. Additionally, a model template has been issued to streamline the documentation process.

Once the records are verified, the disparity between the fifth and sixth salary scales will be determined, and the appropriate adjustments will be made. Importantly, this decision will benefit not only active teachers and employees but also retired personnel. Directives have been issued to all district education officers under the signature of the Special Director of Secondary Education to ensure comprehensive implementation.

This move to re-evaluate the salaries of teachers and employees in Bihar’s Sanskrit and Madrasa institutions reflects a commitment to fair compensation and recognizes the invaluable contributions of educators. The decision, effective from July 1, 2023, demonstrates a significant budgetary allocation exceeding 21 billion rupees. The Education Department has disbursed the revised salary amounts, including dearness allowances, following the salary re-evaluation amendment.

For the allocation of funds

The Education Department has disbursed 4.68 billion rupees from the budget of 12.80 billion rupees for Madrasas and allocated a budget of 8.69 billion rupees for Sanskrit schools. Out of this, three billion 10 crore rupees have been released. Notably, the benefits of the fifth and sixth salary re-evaluations will be applicable from April 11, 1989, and April 1, 2007, respectively.

The imminent salary fixation for teachers and employees in Bihar’s Sanskrit and Madrasa institutions heralds a positive step towards ensuring fair compensation and enhancing morale within the education sector. This decision underscores the government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of educators and recognizing their indispensable role in shaping the future generation.
