Significance of Char Dham
As per the beliefs associated with the Char Dham Yatra, the Badrinath Dham is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, renowned as Badrivan, nestled amidst the Nar-Narayan peaks. Kedarnath Dham is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva manifested in the form of a lingam, established by Lord Vishnu’s Nar-Narayan avatars. Gangotri Dham is where the puja of Goddess Ganga is conducted, with a temple dedicated to the Ganges River. The name of this place originates from its origin point, Gomukh. Yamunotri Dham is the source of the Yamuna River, where puja is offered to Goddess Yamuna. It’s worth mentioning that the construction of the Yamunotri temple was commissioned by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal.
These regulations and procedures aim to streamline the Char Dham Yatra, ensuring the safety and comfort of the pilgrims while maintaining the sanctity and significance of these revered pilgrimage sites.
