In a significant move under the Amrit Bharat Railway Station Plan, the Ujjain Railway Station is set to undergo a transformation that will bring state-of-the-art facilities, resembling those of an airport. The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for this ambitious project.
The Virtual Groundbreaking Ceremony
As part of the Amrit Bharat Railway Station Plan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will conduct a virtual groundbreaking ceremony for 11 railway stations, including Ujjain, Indore, Nagda, Khachrod, and Ratlam divisions. The Ujjain Railway Station is expected to witness a comprehensive redevelopment, infusing modern amenities at an estimated cost of 800 crores, mirroring the infrastructure of an airport.
Unveiling the 41,000 Crore Rail Projects
Monday will mark the inauguration and groundbreaking of rail projects worth approximately 41,000 crores. This extensive initiative covers the redevelopment of stations in various cities, such as Ujjain, Indore, Sehore, Nagda, Khachrod, Maksi, Shujalpur, Dahod, Mandsaur, Neemuch, and Limkheda. The Amrit Bharat Railway Station Plan encompasses the revitalization of around 554 stations, alongside dedicating road underbridges to the public.
Enhanced Facilities in Ujjain
Ujjain, renowned as the city of Baba Mahakal, already attracts a substantial number of pilgrims due to its sacred status. With the redevelopment of the railway station, tourists and visitors will experience facilities reminiscent of an airport. The station will feature a food court, waiting lounge, and dedicated play areas for children. The entire project will adhere to green building techniques.
The Ujjain Railway Station will have separate entry and exit points, monitored through CCTV cameras, and a command center will be established for effective surveillance. Specially designed facilities for differently-abled individuals, provision of lighting, lifts, escalators, and the integration of the old city and the Freeganj railway track are also part of the redevelopment plan.
Upon completion of this ambitious transformation, the Ujjain Railway Station will stand as a testament to modernization and efficiency, offering travelers a seamless and sophisticated experience.
