Scholarship Disruption: Portal Delays Affect Scholarships for Over 2.42 Lakh Students, Paperwork Deadline Extended to March 15

The delay in the functioning of the scholarship portal and the negligence in government schools have led to a halt in scholarships for more than 2.42 lakh students in the district. With the academic session for 2023-24 coming to an end, students are yet to receive the scholarship amounts in their accounts.

Portal’s Slow Progress

The information reveals that the paperwork process for scholarships was supposed to be completed by the beginning of February. However, it remains incomplete to date. While the government has extended the deadline to March 15, the sluggish progress of the portal raises concerns about whether the process can be completed by the stipulated date.

District-Wide Issues

The combination of the slow progress of the portal and the negligence in government schools has resulted in several students not receiving their scholarships. The academic session is nearing its end, and the delay in crediting scholarship amounts into students’ accounts is causing distress. Departmental lapses and technical glitches have added to the frustration, leaving parents worried about their children’s scholarship status.

TSAS Portal for 9th to 12th Students

This year, the state government introduced the TSAS portal (MP Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Caste Welfare Automation System) for students from 9th to 12th grade. Students were required to create an account once, and subsequent years would not necessitate re-registration. However, the slow progress of the portal has resulted in only 19,463 out of 47,111 student profiles being created in the district. This means that only 10,566 students have successfully applied for the scholarship, and out of those, the department has only verified and approved 9,478 profiles.

Incomplete Verification and Approval

It has come to light that the department has only verified and approved 9,478 profiles out of the 10,566 students who applied for the scholarship. This discrepancy in the number of approved profiles raises concerns about the efficiency of the verification process and the potential delay in disbursing scholarship amounts.

Delayed Scholarship Transfers

Moreover, despite updates being made to the portal for students in grades 1 through 8, the scholarship process has been progressing slowly. While 2,28,518 profiles have been approved on the portal, funds have not yet been transferred to the students’ accounts. Despite the academic year’s impending closure, the delay in transferring funds adds to the uncertainty for these students.

The current situation calls for urgent attention from the concerned authorities to streamline the scholarship disbursement process and ensure that deserving students receive their financial aid without further delays. The extended deadline until March 15 provides a window of opportunity to rectify the issues and fulfill the promises made to students seeking educational support.
