In a heartbreaking incident during the ongoing Judo trials at the Youth Talent Hunt organized by the Sports Department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, a 20-year-old female judoka, Fizza Sher Ali, tragically lost her life due to a head injury.

The incident occurred on March 3, 2024, at the sports complex of the Mardan Education Department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the Prime Minister Youth Talent Hunt was conducting judo trials. Fizza Sher Ali sustained a head injury during the trials, leading to a critical condition. Despite immediate attempts by rescue officials to administer first aid, she succumbed to the injury on the way to the hospital.

Fizza Sher Ali, a student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Islamia College in Peshawar, had joined the trials specifically for judo. Being a newcomer to the sport, she was participating in a match against a Manshera player but couldn’t maintain control during the contest.

Sporting Community Mourns

According to an official from the Pakistan Judo Federation, Masood Ahmad, “Judo athlete Fizza Sher Ali fell to the ground immediately after suffering a head injury and could not be revived. Though she received prompt medical attention at the event venue, she was later rushed to the hospital, where her life could not be saved.”

This tragic news has sent shockwaves across the global sporting community, mourning the untimely demise of a young and aspiring judo talent.
