Renowned Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi has voiced his dissatisfaction with the United Nations (UN) and shed light on the devastating impact of conflicts on children. Addressing the Laureates and Leaders for Children Conclave, he launched a new global initiative, the “Satyarthi Movement for Global Compassion” (SMGC).
Children, the Silent Victims of War
In a poignant statement, Kailash Satyarthi highlighted the harsh reality that in times of war, it is the children who bear the brunt of the consequences. Whether in the Gaza Strip or Ukraine, he emphasized that children are the most severely affected during conflicts and warfare.
Launch of SMGC
At the Laureates and Leaders for Children Conclave, Kailash Satyarthi initiated the “Satyarthi Movement for Global Compassion” (SMGC). This global campaign aims to bring together Nobel laureates, leaders, businesses, educators, youth, and civil society to address the challenges of brokenness and inequality. The ultimate goal is to unite the world in building a just, inclusive, and unbiased global community, free from discrimination and bias.

Kailash Satyarthi urged for a shift in perspective, emphasizing the need to separate children from the boundaries imposed by religion and geopolitics. He remarked that there is a lack of responsibility among people concerning the well-being of children.
Displeasure with UN Policies
While expressing concern about the plight of children in times of war, Kailash Satyarthi revealed that he had written to leaders worldwide, rallying support from approximately 103 Nobel laureates against the actions in Gaza. He explicitly criticized the UN’s ineffective response and expressed dissatisfaction with its policies, particularly in dealing with crises affecting children.
SMGC’s Vision
The initiation of SMGC comes at a time when the world faces numerous global challenges. Kailash Satyarthi, the founder of SMGC, expressed his vision for addressing the pressing issues of our time.
