Toyota Kirloskar Motor is set to launch a new SUV in the Indian market, which customers have been eagerly anticipating for a long time. News of the launch of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is circulating for next month, April 3, and it is expected to attract customers in the micro SUV segment, competing with Tata Punch and Maruti Suzuki Fronx, along with budget SUV customers like Hyundai Exstar.

Fronx’s Re-badged Model

The most interesting aspect is that Toyota is coming with its cloak on as another SUV, re-badged as Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx. This means that the Urban Cruiser Taisor may share looks and features with Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Toyota might make some necessary changes to make it better. Prior to this, Maruti Suzuki Brezza was presented as Urban Cruiser, Maruti Artiga as Toyota Rumian, and Toyota Innova Hikross as Maruti Suzuki Invicto in the partnership between Suzuki and Toyota, bringing a new product as a tester.

Looks and Features

Speaking of looks and features, the Toyota Taisor may see some changes in the front and rear bumpers compared to the Fronx. It will feature new design alloy wheels. Inside, it may have a different dashboard from the Fronx, new inserts on upholstery, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, head-up display, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, voice assist, a 6-speaker sound system, color digital instrument cluster, and many more standard and safety features.

Engine and Power

In terms of engine and power, the Toyota Taisor is expected to be offered with a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-liter booster jet petrol engine, capable of generating 90 BHP power and 113 Newton meters of torque, and 100 BHP power and 147 Nm of peak torque, respectively. The Taisor may be offered in both manual and automatic transmission options. Toyota may price its upcoming SUV, the Urban Cruiser Taisor, in the price range of ₹7 lakhs to ₹14 lakhs.
