After Election Commission’s Orders, X Takes a Big Step, Removes Controversial Posts by Leaders of These Parties

The Election Commission has instructed social media platform X to remove selected controversial posts by leaders of various parties. X confirmed on Tuesday that these posts have been taken down. Orders to remove posts violating the Model Code of Conduct were issued on April 2nd and April 3rd.

If these posts were not removed

X was reminded via email by the Election Commission on April 10th. X stated that the Election Commission of India had issued orders to take action against political posts shared by elected representatives, political parties, and office candidates.

The Election Commission found that the controversial posts were in violation of the Model Code of Conduct

X stated that in compliance with the orders, they have suspended these posts for the remainder of the election period. X expressed disagreement with this action, emphasizing the importance of maintaining freedom of expression.
