Bombing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Claims Lives of 5 Chinese Citizens

A significant suicide bombing has occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, resulting in the deaths of five Chinese citizens.

According to reports, the incident took place in Dasu, Islamabad, where a suicide attacker targeted a convoy of Chinese engineers. The convoy was traveling from Islamabad to Dasu in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The attacker rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the convoy, resulting in the deaths of five Chinese nationals. Additionally, their Pakistani driver was also killed in the attack.

Suicide Bombing Targets Chinese Engineers in Pakistan’s Dasu, President Condemns Attack

Regional police chief Mohammad Ali Gandapur stated that the assailant targeted a vehicle carrying Chinese engineers with explosives. The engineers were on their way to Dasu, where they were stationed for the construction of a dam. Gandapur confirmed that the remaining individuals in the convoy were safely evacuated.

Dasu is a significant site for dam construction, and this area has witnessed attacks in the past. In 2021, a bus explosion in the same region resulted in the deaths of 13 people, including nine Chinese nationals. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have initiated relief efforts at the scene.

President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the attack and expressed sorrow over the deaths of Chinese nationals. He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and reassured Pakistan’s commitment to its friendship with China, emphasizing that those seeking to harm Pak-China friendship would not succeed.
