Char Dham Yatra 2024: Journey of Spiritual Renewal Begins Tomorrow

In Hinduism, the Char Dham Yatra holds profound significance, drawing pilgrims in large numbers every year to embark on this sacred journey. This year, the revered Char Dham Yatra is set to commence from May 10, 2024.

What is Char Dham Yatra?

The Char Dham Yatra encompasses four religiously significant sites in Uttarakhand, which hold immense importance for Hindus. These sites include Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath. The journey to these sites is considered spiritually enriching and is believed to cleanse the soul.

Commencement of the Journey

The much-awaited Char Dham Yatra is scheduled to commence from May 10, 2024. While the gates of Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Kedarnath Dham will open on May 10th, the Badrinath Dham will open its doors for darshan from May 12th. Online registration for the Char Dham Yatra began on April 15th, followed by the availability of offline registration from May 8th.

Opening of Gates

  • Yamunotri Dham: Situated in the Uttarkashi district, the gates of Yamunotri Dham will open on the 10th of May at 10:29 AM. According to religious beliefs, Yamunotri Dham is considered the ashram of Asit Muni, where the worship of Goddess Yamuna takes place.
  • Gangotri Dham: Regarded as the origin of the Ganges River, Gangotri Dham’s temple was constructed in the 18th century by Commander Amar Singh Thapa. The gates of Gangotri Dham will open on May 10th at 12:25 PM.
  • Badrinath Dham: Located amidst the Nar-Narayana mountain ranges in the Chamoli district, the revered Badrinath Dham’s gates will open on May 12th at 6:00 AM. The temple is adorned with the sacred Nandi statue and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.
