The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate programs is set to commence from May 15, marking the beginning of a new era as it embraces a hybrid mode of examination for the first time. This means that the exam will not only be conducted in the traditional pen-and-paper mode but also in an online format across various cities nationwide. In light of this significant change, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued crucial guidelines that candidates must adhere to during the examination process. The exams are scheduled to take place from May 15 to 18, and exam city slips have already been issued, with admit cards expected to be released soon.
Dos and Don’ts During the Examination
NTA has advised candidates to strictly adhere to the reporting time mentioned on the admit card. It is mandatory to reach the exam center on time.
Candidates must attempt 40 out of 50 questions in the subject-specific section and 50 out of 60 questions in the general section. Attempting more questions than required may not be considered during evaluation.
During shift breaks, candidates scheduled for the next shift will not be allowed to leave the exam center premises.
Candidates are advised to match the test booklet code with the OMR code to ensure alignment.
Even after completing the exam on time, candidates will not be allowed to leave the exam hall.
Blank sheets for rough work will not be provided separately; instead, space for rough work will be provided within the test booklet.
At the end of the exam, candidates will only be allowed to take the test booklet with them. The OMR sheet and admit card must be submitted to the invigilator.
Expansion of CUET Examination Centers
To facilitate the hybrid mode of examination, the number of CUET examination centers has been increased threefold by NTA. The exams will now be conducted across 2415 centers, a significant rise from the 821 centers used in the previous year. This information was confirmed by UCET Chairman M. Jagadish Kumar. The CUET UG examination is set to conclude in just 7 days, with exams being held in 318 cities instead of the previous 308. The pen-and-paper mode exams will take place from May 15 to May 19, followed by the computer-based test mode from May 21 to May 24.
Expected Release Date for Admit Cards
Updates regarding the CUET UG admit cards have also surfaced. Admit cards may be issued today, May 11, although no official announcement has been made in this regard. Candidates can download their admit cards from the official websites exams.nta.ac.in or cuetug.ntaonline.in using their application number, password, date of birth, and security code.
