One such inspiring example is Gaurav Nigam, a young man from Lucknow who gave up a good job to start a dry cleaning business, turning it into a successful brand that earns millions.
Gaurav Nigam grew up in the city of Nawabs, Lucknow, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree from a law college
He then moved to Pune, where he completed his MBA from Symbiosis and ventured into the telecom sector, working for Airtel. After working for nearly 12 years, he joined Lava company. During his tenure there, he got the opportunity to travel abroad. It was during this time, while working in China, that the idea of starting his own dry cleaning business struck him. Witnessing dirty clothes compelled him to consider opening dry cleaning stores. Subsequently, he teamed up with Navin Chawla and started his business, naming it TambolaDry.
The idea clicked from the start, and within about four years, the company expanded rapidly
opening dry cleaning stores in more than 180 cities across India. They have already washed garments worth approximately £13.6 million. Their stores continue to witness consistent growth. Gaurav Nigam’s determination never wavered after starting this venture. Despite having to stay in China for 15 days while working for a mobile company, his research led him to open his dry cleaning business. He studied the dry cleaning wings of various prestigious hotels like Taj and Oberoi, even traveling to Dubai for further research. The business was meticulously planned, with machines imported from Electrolux in Sweden and Domus in Spain.
According to media reports, the company has a turnover of around £13.6 million. Gaurav Nigam aims to expand his business to every city, striving to bring a shine to people’s clothes. The rapid success achieved by this company in such a short span serves as a great inspiration for youth.
