Uttarakhand Government Employees to Receive DA Hike: There is good news for employees of public corporations and bodies in Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has presented a Holi gift to the employees by approving a 4% Dearness Allowance (DA) hike from July 2023. Orders related to this announcement are expected to be issued soon, benefiting thousands of employees.
Meeting with the Employee Union and DA Demands:
According to media reports, on Sunday, the State Government Employee Officer Federation held a meeting with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. During the meeting, they raised the demand for a prompt decision on the Dearness Allowance. The federation emphasized that the DA hike of 4% should be applicable to state employees, public corporations, and other bodies from July 2023. Additionally, they urged the inclusion of other demands, such as addressing the shortage of officers in the Forest Development Corporation and providing benefits to dependents of deceased employees in the transportation corporation.
Benefits from July 2023
Sources suggest that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, acknowledging the seriousness of the employees’ demands, has assured a swift decision on these matters. Following the immediate meeting, CM Dhami granted approval to the file related to the Dearness Allowance, which has been forwarded to the Industry Department. There is a likelihood that this proposal might be approved in the cabinet soon. Subsequently, the Uttarakhand government will issue orders, benefitting around 40,000 employees with an increase in their allowances ranging from ₹700 to ₹3,000. The State Government Employee Officer Federation has requested that these orders be issued before the implementation of the Election Code of Conduct.
Previous DA Hike in the New Year
It’s noteworthy that before this announcement, the Uttarakhand government had already gifted a 4% DA hike to all employees of corporations and bodies in the new year of 2024. The benefits of the increased DA, ranging from 38% to 412%, were applicable from July 2022 and January 2023, depending on the employee’s salary scale. The decision aimed to provide financial relief to the employees amid rising inflation.
With this positive development, Uttarakhand government employees can look forward to an improved financial situation, as the government continues to address their concerns and work towards their welfare.
