Chief Election Officer Praveen Gupta has announced an increase in the honorarium for employees appointed for various tasks, including polling and vote counting, under the Lok Sabha general elections.
Under this, micro-observers appointed at polling booths will now receive Rs 1,000 for the first two days and Rs 500 per day (maximum Rs 3,000) for duty exceeding two days. Previously, micro-observers were paid a lump sum of Rs 1,000 as honorarium.
Assistant employees appointed with polling and counting teams will now receive a daily allowance of Rs 300, increased from Rs 250.
The honorarium for various personnel, including polling teams, zonal magistrates, area magistrates, home guards, forest guards, NCC senior cadets, ex-servicemen, and village protection teams, has been increased from Rs 350 to Rs 400.
Additionally, employees engaged in videography and photography duties will now receive Rs 400, up from Rs 250.
This increase in honorarium will benefit a wide range of employees involved in election duties, including micro-observers, assistant employees, polling teams, zonal magistrates, area magistrates, home guards, forest guards, village protection teams, NCC senior cadets, and ex-servicemen. These employees will see an increase in their respective honorarium amounts, compared to previous elections.
