Good News for Farmers: Wheat Procurement to Begin from April 1, Here are the Rules, Know the Rates and Process

Haryana Farmers News: There is good news for farmers in Haryana. The procurement of wheat for the Rabi season 2024-25 will begin from April 1. In this season, the minimum support price (MSP) has been set at Rs 2275 per quintal for wheat and Rs 5650 per quintal for mustard. Notably, the payment for crop procurement will be directly credited to the accounts of farmers through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) once again.

Agriculture Minister Assures Support

Agriculture Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar reassured farmers, stating that the government will not let any inconvenience befall them. He mentioned that a one-time loan waiver scheme was implemented for farmers, wherein Rs 1100 crore was waived. Additionally, if farmers avail themselves of the one-time scheme this time, they will receive a waiver of Rs 1750 crore. The procurement of wheat and mustard will be smoothly carried out, ensuring that no problems arise. Compensation will be provided promptly where crops have been damaged or lost.

Wheat Procurement to Begin from April 1

Wheat procurement will commence from April 1 through HAFED (Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd.) and Haryana State Warehousing Corporation. The MSP for wheat has been set at Rs 2275 per quintal. Data for procurement will be recorded on the Meri Fasal-Mera Byora portal. A total of 417 procurement centers have been established for wheat procurement this year.

Mustard Procurement Begins

The procurement of mustard started on March 26, with the MSP set at Rs 5650 per quintal. There are 106 mandis/procurement centers set up for mustard procurement, and preparations have been completed to handle an expected arrival of 14.28 lakh metric tons. Over 4.74 lakh farmers have registered 18.06 lakh acres of land for mustard cultivation.

Direct Payment to Farmers’ Accounts

Similar to previous seasons, payments for crop procurement will be directly transferred to the accounts of farmers through DBT. Approximately Rs 7300 crore cash credit limit has already been approved for wheat procurement. A total of 7,82,921 farmers have registered 41,64,324 acres of land for wheat cultivation in the Rabi season 2024-25.

With wheat procurement set to begin from April 1 and mustard procurement already underway, farmers in Haryana can look forward to a smooth process facilitated by the government. The direct transfer of payments to farmers’ accounts aims to ensure transparency and efficiency in the procurement process.
