The Bihar government has disbursed ₹658 crores for the salaries of teachers employed under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme. This amount will cover the salaries for the month of March for over 2 lakh teachers. The education department issued an order under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme, specifying that the salaries for March are to be paid to the 275,058 teachers employed in the state.
Allocation and Responsibility
The allocation of this amount has been made district-wise. In case of any irregularities found in the disbursement of the approved amount, the Bihar Education Project Council, officials in Patna, and district program officers at the regional level will be held responsible.
Benefits for Over 2.75 Lakh Teachers
The order states that provisions have been made for a budget of ₹2650 crores for the financial year 2024-25 under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. The partnership between the central and state governments is up to 60% to 40%. Under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme, salaries of over 2,75,058 teachers, including those employed under the Panchayati Raj, Municipal Corporation institutions, graduate trained teachers in upper primary schools, and principals, will be covered.
Timely Salary Disbursement
The education department aims to disburse the salaries for the month of March to teachers before the festival of Eid. In this regard, clear instructions have been given to the department officials to ensure that the salaries for March are paid to the appointed teachers before the festival of Eid.
