In a match held in Lucknow on Friday, the Lucknow Super Giants defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets. However, amidst the game, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has fined both team captains.
BCCI has imposed a hefty fine of 12 lakhs each on KL Rahul
Captain of Lucknow Super Giants, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, captain of Chennai Super Kings. This decision came after both teams failed to complete their 20 overs within the stipulated time frame during the match played on Friday.
According to a press release by BCCI
Both captains have been fined for the slow over-rate offense. Since this is the first offense for both captains this season, they have been fined only 12 lakhs each. However, if such a mistake is repeated, a fine of 24 lakhs along with the imposition of an impact player will be imposed on all players in the playing eleven, amounting to 6 lakhs each.
This is the first time in this season that fines have been imposed on both team captains for a slow over-rate offense. Earlier, fines were imposed on Rishabh Pant, captain of Delhi Capitals, as well as on Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson, captains of Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, respectively.
