Jio, the telecom company known for revolutionizing internet access in India, faced widespread service disruptions in several areas on Thursday. Users had been complaining about issues with Jio’s internet and mobile services for the past few days. Reports suggest that these services were completely down in many areas on Thursday. Users reported extremely slow internet speeds and difficulties accessing both mobile data and Jio Fiber services. Some even complained of disruptions in mobile calling services. It’s worth noting that Jio Telecom, a company under Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Group, boasts the largest number of internet customers in the country.

The highest number of complaints about internet services came around midday. Downdetector, which provides real-time information about internet service issues, confirmed the disruptions. By 1:30 PM, over 700 users had reported problems with Jio’s internet service. Of these complaints, 51% were related to Jio Fiber, while 42% were about mobile internet, and 7% were regarding mobile calling.
The issue quickly gained traction on social media platforms
With the hashtag #JioDown trending. Many users took to social media to express frustration over the sudden slowdown in internet speeds or complete outages. Complaints ranged from difficulties in playing online games like BGMI and Free Fire MAX to general frustration over the inability to browse the internet. As of now, Jio has not issued any official statement regarding the outage.
The widespread service disruption highlights the reliance of millions of users on Jio for their internet and mobile communication needs. It also underscores the importance of robust infrastructure to support the increasing demand for digital services in India.
