Former Indian cricket stalwart Murali Kartik has sparked controversy during the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) by making a derogatory statement about a Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bowler, leading to quite a stir.
In the 17th season of the Indian Premier League, the Royal Challengers Bangalore secured their first victory against the Punjab Kings on March 25. The match witnessed a stellar performance from RCB in both bowling and batting. However, amidst this, a piece of news has garnered significant attention. Former Indian cricketer Murali Kartik has made a statement that has caused quite a stir. He referred to one of RCB’s star pacers as ‘trash’.
Kartik’s Outrageous Statement
During the IPL 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings, Yash Dayal, a rising star in RCB’s bowling lineup, showcased an impressive performance. However, it was during this match that former cricketer Murali Kartik made a disparaging remark about Yash Dayal, stating, “For someone, it’s trash, for someone else, it’s treasure.” Kartik’s comment has drawn widespread criticism.
Yash Dayal Responds
Following Kartik’s statement, Yash Dayal also made a statement of his own. However, he did not directly address Kartik’s remarks. Last year, Dayal faced a setback when he was hit for five consecutive sixes by Rinku Singh while playing for Gujarat. Subsequently, Dayal was dropped from the team. Nevertheless, RCB signed Dayal for a whopping 5 crores for IPL 2024.
Dayal recounted the incident, saying, “After being hit for five sixes, I was told not to look at social media, but I did. I even discussed it with my family. Then, two to three days after the incident, I fell ill. However, I have overcome it now.”
The controversy stirred by Kartik’s statement underscores the intensity and passion surrounding the IPL, where every action and word is scrutinized under the spotlight. As the tournament progresses, it remains to be seen how this controversy unfolds and its impact on the players and the teams involved.
