Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath has accused the BJP of wanting to change the constitution and abolish reservation. He stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has its sights set on the constitution and wants to make changes to strip the rights of the marginalized sections of society. However, the Congress will never allow such a thing to happen. Nath emphasized that if his government comes to power, they will ensure equality for every poor, oppressed, and backward individual. Hence, the Congress has included partnership justice in its manifesto.
Kamal Nath’s Allegations
Kamal Nath wrote on his Twitter handle, “The Bharatiya Janata Party wants to change the constitution so that it can end reservation and deprive the marginalized sections of society of their rights. But Congress will not let this happen.” He added, “Congress has come with partnership justice in its manifesto. Under this, 1. Count – Count every person, every class for social and economic equality. 2. Reservation Rights – Remove the 50% limit by constitutional amendment and give full reservation to SC/ST/OBC. 3. Legal Guarantee of SC/ST Sub Plan – Budget according to the SC/ST population; that is, more participation. 4. Legal Rights of Land-Water-Forest – Decision on forest rights law within 1 year. 5. Our Land, Our Rule – Congress will schedule those settlements in the Scheduled Areas where tribals are the largest social group.”
BJP and Congress Accusations Against Each Other
In these elections, both the BJP and Congress are attacking each other on the issues of the constitution and reservation. On one hand, the Congress alleges that the BJP wants more than 400 seats so that they can change Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s constitution. According to them, the BJP wants to abolish reservation for Dalits, Adivasis, and the backward class. On the other hand, the BJP claims that the Congress wants to appease Muslims by diluting reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes (OBCs). They accuse the Congress of practicing appeasement politics and favoritism towards other sections of society for the sake of minority vote banks. Once again, former CM Kamal Nath has cornered the BJP on issues of reservation and the constitution.
