Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Voting Underway on 6 Seats in Madhya Pradesh

Today, the second phase of Lok Sabha elections is underway in Madhya Pradesh. Voting is taking place in 6 constituencies including Tikamgarh, Damoh, Satna, Rewa, Khajuraho, and Hoshangabad. However, there have been some delays in the start of voting in Khajuraho, which has left BJP candidate V.D. Sharma displeased. Sharma has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission and officials regarding the delayed commencement of voting.

Sharma mentioned that polling started at 7:56 AM. He has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission and urged the authorities, including the Collector, to extend the voting time due to the delayed start caused by machine-related issues. Similarly, in Damoh, former minister Jayant Malaiya expressed his displeasure when the voting process did not begin on time upon his arrival. He too voiced his concerns. It’s worth noting that in the second phase of voting, approximately 11.64 lakh voters will cast their votes across these constituencies.

V.D. Sharma is the BJP candidate there, while Congress has extended its support to Raja Bhaiya Prajapati of the Forward Bloc party after the cancellation of Meera Yadav’s candidature, who was previously announced by the Indian Alliance. In Damoh, BJP’s Rahul Singh Lodhi and Congress’s Tarvar Singh Lodhi are facing each other. In Tikamgarh, BJP’s Veerendra Kumar and Congress’s Pankaj Ahirwar are in contention. Satna sees BJP’s Ganesh Singh against Congress’s Siddharth Kushwaha. In Hoshangabad, BJP’s Darshan Singh Choudhary and Congress’s Sanjay Singh are pitted against each other. In this second phase, a total of 47 assembly segments from 13 districts are involved. There are 12,828 polling booths set up for voting in these constituencies.
