Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, there has been a significant relief for the common man. The prices of LPG cylinders have been reduced, and new rates have been announced by government oil and gas companies.
Pre-Election Relief: Commercial Gas Cylinder Prices Slashed by Rs. 30.50, No Change for Domestic Consumers
Reduction in Commercial Cylinder Prices Government oil companies have announced a reduction of Rs. 30.50 in the prices of gas cylinders. However, this relief in prices is only for consumers using 19 kg commercial LPG gas cylinders. There has been no change in the prices of domestic gas cylinders.
A Pre-Election Gift The most significant aspect is that this reduction in commercial gas cylinder prices has been announced before the Lok Sabha elections. The voting process, starting in April, will continue until June, with elections taking place in seven phases across the country. While the prices of commercial gas cylinders have been rising over the past three months, this relief just before the elections is akin to a gift for consumers.
Price Variations Speaking of the prices of 19 kg commercial gas cylinders in metropolitan cities, it is now Rs. 1764.50 in Delhi, Rs. 1879 in Kolkata, Rs. 1930 in Chennai, and Rs. 1717.50 in Mumbai.
Domestic Cylinder Prices While there has been a reduction in commercial gas cylinder prices, there has been no change in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders. Last month, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, a reduction of Rs. 100 in domestic cylinder prices was announced. Currently, there have been no changes in these prices.
In metropolitan cities, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders are as follows: Rs. 803 in Delhi, Rs. 818.50 in Chennai, Rs. 802.50 in Mumbai, and Rs. 829 in Kolkata.
