Mahakal: Only a Drop of Water Will Play Holi on Rangpanchami with Mahakal, Offering Saffron and Palash Flower Colors

An incident of fire occurred in the Mahakal Temple on the day of Holi, leading to cautious preparations for the upcoming Rangpanchami celebration. It has been decided that during the Rangpanchami festival, only a drop of water mixed with colors made from saffron and palash flowers will be offered to Lord Mahakal. The priests will offer this color to Baba Mahakal during the ritual.

Holi with Flower Colors

Every festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the revered court of Baba Mahakal. During Holi and Rangpanchami, the atmosphere is filled with the colors of abir and gulal, and the king of kings plays Holi with his devotees. Devotees from far and wide come here to participate in Mahakal’s Holi celebrations.

This year, due to the incident during Holi, precautions are being taken for the upcoming Rangpanchami celebration. It has been decided that only a drop of water mixed with colors made from saffron and palash flowers will be offered to Baba Mahakal during the bhog aarti. The priest will perform this ritual.

Management Decisions

According to information, it has been decided in the meeting of the Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee that during the bhog aarti, a drop of water mixed with colors made from flowers will be offered to Baba Mahakal by the priests. This water will also be offered to the idols of Goddess Parvati, Kartikeya, and Lord Ganesha in the sanctum sanctorum. Furthermore, no colored gulal will be used in the temple premises.

Inspection of Devotees

No colored gulal will be used during the bhog aarti. Devotees who come to the temple for darshan will be inspected. Entry will only be allowed after inspection, and further checks will be conducted inside. If any person appears suspicious, they will be inspected, and if necessary, action will be taken against them. All these decisions have been taken under the chairmanship of the Ujjain Collector and the President of the Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee, Neeraj Kumar Singh.

Number of Devotees in the Aarti

To streamline the arrangements, a review is being conducted to determine how many devotees can comfortably sit in the Ganesh Mandap and Nandi Hall during the bhog aarti. After the review, the number of devotees participating in the bhog aarti will be decided.

Assistance to the Injured and Investigation Report

Orders for a magistrate inquiry into the incident of fire at Mahakal on the day of Holi were given by the collector. A team was formed to submit the investigation report within three days. According to the given time, the report can be submitted today, based on which further action will be taken. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has already announced financial assistance of one lakh rupees to each of the injured in the incident. Additionally, the temple committee will also provide financial assistance of one lakh rupees to those injured in the incident.
