Known as National Technology Day in India, May 11 commemorates the contributions of scientists and engineers and aims to promote technological advancement. The day holds historical significance dating back to 1998 when India achieved success in nuclear tests at Pokhran. At that time, the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared this day as National Technology Day to honor the scientists and engineers involved in the tests and to promote technology.
