The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the result for NEET UG 2024 will be declared on June 14, according to the time table released. Prior to this, the answer key and OMR response sheet will be made available. However, NTA has not yet announced any specific date for the release of the answer key. Candidates can download the official answer key from the website exams.nta.ac.in and also raise objections to the provisional answer key. The final answer key and result will be released thereafter. Candidates are advised to regularly visit the official website for updates.
Examination Details
The NEET UG 2024 examination was conducted on May 5 across 571 cities in 4750 centers nationwide. Additionally, exams were held in 14 cities across the country. Approximately 24 lakh candidates appeared for the examination.
Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
The medical entrance examination comprises questions from Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. Each subject is divided into two sections – Section A with 35 questions and Section B with 15 questions. It is mandatory to attempt all 10 questions in Section B. The marking scheme awards 4 marks for each correct answer, deducts 1 mark for each incorrect answer, and no marks are given for unanswered questions. The same marking scheme applies to the 10 questions in Section B. It is up to the candidate to decide which questions to attempt.
Admissions to Medical Colleges
Under NEET UG, students secure admission to top medical colleges in India for MBBS/BDS/Ayush courses. The cut-off for the examination is determined based on the number of candidates, the difficulty level of the exam, and the number of seats available. This year, admissions will be offered in 612 medical colleges and 315 dental colleges.
Expected Cut-off
After the announcement of results, the passing percentile will be declared. Based on previous years, the expected cut-off percentile for NEET UG this year could be 50 percentile for General category, 40 percentile for OBC, 40 percentile for SC, and 40 percentile for ST candidates.
