As April draws to a close, if you haven’t yet completed eKYC, land verification, and linked your bank account to Aadhaar, do it quickly, or else you may miss out on the benefits of the 17th installment. Additionally, like April, banks will also remain closed for 12 days in May, so getting Aadhaar linked might pose a challenge. Therefore, farmers should promptly complete these three tasks to ensure they receive the benefits of the next installment.
Key Highlights of PM Kisan Yojana
Under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, farmers receive an annual sum of Rs. 6,000 in three installments of Rs. 2,000 each every four months. This money is transferred directly to the accounts of farmers through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). The 16th installment was released on February 28th, wherein eligible farmers received Rs. 2,000 each through debit to their bank accounts. Now, farmers await the 17th installment.
Eligibility and Requirements
This benefit is available to farmers who own up to 2 hectares of land and are Indian citizens. However, farmers who pay income tax are not eligible for this scheme. According to the rules of the scheme, eligible farmers will receive these benefits only if they have completed eKYC, linked their bank account with Aadhaar, and completed land verification.
Possibility of the 17th Installment in June
As per the rules of the PM Kisan Yojana, the first installment is issued between April and July, the second between August and November, and the third between December and March. Since Lok Sabha elections are scheduled between April and June, and the model code of conduct is in effect, it is possible that the next installment may be released in June. However, the government may release the installment sooner with permission from the Election Commission. Official confirmation of the final date is pending, so farmers should keep an eye on the official PM Kisan website for updates.
Completing eKYC from Home
Step 1: Visit the official website of PM Kisan Yojana.
Step 2: Click on the ‘e-KYC’ option under the Farmer Corner.
Step 3: Provide your Aadhaar number.
Step 4: Enter the OTP received on your mobile and submit.
Step 5: Your eKYC process will be completed.
Checking Your Name in the PM Kisan List
Step 1: Visit the official website of PM Kisan Yojana.
Step 2: Scroll down to find the ‘Farmers Corner’ option.
Step 3: Tap on the ‘Beneficiary Status’ option.
Step 4: Enter your PM Kisan account number or registered mobile number.
Step 5: If your phone number is not registered, do so and enter the OTP received.
Step 6: Click on ‘Get Data’ to see the status of your account on the screen.
