PM KISAN Update: 17th Installment Expected to be Released Soon

The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, one of the significant initiatives of the central government, continues to provide support to millions of farmers across the country. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive an annual sum of ₹6000 in three equal installments of ₹2000 every four months. This financial assistance is directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). The scheme benefits farmers who own up to 2 hectares of cultivable land and are citizens of India. However, farmers need to complete the eKYC process to avail themselves of the benefits of PM Kisan.

When Will the 17th Installment of ₹2000 Each Be Disbursed?

According to the rules of the PM Kisan Yojana, the first installment is typically released between April and July, the second between August and November, and the third between December and March. With the Lok Sabha elections underway from May to June, and considering the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, it is likely that the 17th installment could be disbursed after the election results are announced, and a new government is formed, possibly around early June. However, while some media reports suggest that the Modi government may release the installment before the elections, there hasn’t been official confirmation regarding the final date. Farmers are advised to keep an eye on the official PM Kisan website for updates.

Who Is Not Eligible for the Benefits?

Certain categories of institutional landholders are not eligible for the benefits of this scheme. These include individuals holding constitutional positions, former or current members of legislative bodies (including local bodies), former or current mayors of municipal corporations, and former or current chairpersons of district panchayats. Additionally, retired pensioners receiving pensions of ₹10,000 or more, except for multitasking staff, are ineligible. Professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants, and architects, who are registered with professional bodies, are also not eligible. Furthermore, individuals who have paid income tax in the previous assessment year are excluded from the scheme.

Documents Required for Availing the Benefits

To ensure eligibility for the 17th installment and subsequent installments, farmers need to adhere to certain guidelines. Firstly, farmers must complete the eKYC process, which can be done online through the PM Kisan portal, mobile app, or at Common Service Centers (CSCs). It’s also essential for beneficiaries to undergo land record verification; failure to do so may lead to installment delays. Additionally, linking Aadhaar with bank accounts is crucial, as non-compliance may result in exclusion from the scheme. Furthermore, incorrect bank details may lead to application rejection; therefore, farmers are advised to verify their details carefully. Finally, if the applicant is below 18 years of age, their application may be rejected.

How to Complete eKYC

Completing eKYC is a straightforward process that can be done online:

  • Visit the official PM Kisan website.
  • Click on the ‘e-KYC’ option under the Farmer Corner.
  • Provide your Aadhaar number.
  • Enter the OTP received on your mobile number.
  • Your eKYC process will be complete.

Alternatively, farmers can complete eKYC through the PM Kisan mobile app using the Farmer Authentication feature.

Checking Your Status and Beneficiary List

Farmers can check their application status and beneficiary list on the PM Kisan portal:
