Ingredients
- 1 cup Moong Dal
- 1/2 cup chopped Onion
- 1/2 cup chopped Tomato
- 1/2 cup chopped Green Chili
- 1/4 cup chopped Coriander
- 1 tablespoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 1 tablespoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 tablespoon Red Chili Powder
- 1 tablespoon Coriander Powder
- 1/2 tablespoon Garam Masala
- 1/2 tablespoon Salt
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 4 slices of Bread
- Green Chutney for serving
- Mayonnaise for serving (optional)
Procedure
- Wash and soak Moong Dal. If you are short on time, you can make any sandwich without soaking the dal.
- In a pressure cooker, add Moong Dal, 2 cups of water, and salt. Cook the dal until it gets 3 whistles. After the pressure is released, open the cooker and mash the dal.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once the cumin splutters, add onions and sauté until golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala.
- Roast the spices for 1 minute. Add tomatoes, green chili, and salt. Cook the vegetables until soft.
- Add the mashed Moong Dal and coriander. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Turn off the gas.
- Spread green chutney on the slices of bread and mayonnaise (optional). Then, spread the Moong Dal mixture on the bread slices.
- Cut the sandwich into two halves. Serve the Moong Dal sandwich with green chutney and mayonnaise (optional).

- You can add any vegetables like carrots, peas, or bell peppers of your choice.
- To make the sandwich even more delicious, you can add cheese or paneer.
