Pulwama Attack Remembrance: Nation Observes Black Day Today, Honoring 44 Martyred Soldiers

Pulwama Attack Remembrance: While February 14 is celebrated as Valentine’s Day in India, where couples express love through gifts, promises, and commitments, there is another group in society that observes this day differently. A significant portion of the population marks February 14 as Black Day, commemorating the Pulwama terrorist attack in 2019, where 44 CRPF soldiers lost their lives. The responsibility for this heinous attack was claimed by the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed. The incident sent shockwaves across the country and triggered a strong response from India.

India’s Surgical Strike: In retaliation for the Pulwama attack, the Indian Air Force executed a daring surgical strike on February 26, 2019. Miraj-2000 aircraft took off from the Gwalior Airbase late at night. On February 26, the Indian Air Force’s planes penetrated into Balakot, Pakistan, targeting terrorist camps and facilities. The surgical strike led to the destruction of a significant number of terrorist camps and inflicted heavy casualties on the militants.

Explosive-Laden Vehicle Collides with Convoy: On February 14, 2019, a convoy of over 60 vehicles, carrying more than 2,547 CRPF personnel, was moving on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. As the CRPF convoy reached Avantipora in Pulwama district, an explosive-laden vehicle collided with one of the buses, resulting in a massive explosion. The impact was so severe that parts of the bus were thrown into the air. In this tragic incident, 44 CRPF personnel were martyred.

Legacy of Pulwama Attack: The Pulwama attack left an indelible mark on the collective consciousness of the nation. It served as a grim reminder of the sacrifices made by our armed forces and the constant threat posed by terrorism. The observance of Black Day on February 14 aims to honor the memory of those brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

As the nation observes Black Day, it stands united in remembrance, paying tribute to the fallen heroes of Pulwama and reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
