A Relief for School Students In light of the severe heatwave conditions prevailing in several states like Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Bihar, both government and private schools have announced early summer vacations starting from April. Additionally, schools that had already begun classes in April have adjusted their schedules.
Changes in School Timings
The states of Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Patna have modified school timings for the next two days. All schools conducting classes from 1st to 8th standard will operate from 7:30 am to 11:30 am on April 27th and 28th. On April 28th, being a Sunday, there will be no classes. From April 29th onwards, the timings for all schools have been adjusted according to the orders issued earlier, with classes running from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm.
In Lucknow, the timings for classes 1 to 12 have been changed to run from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm until further notice, applicable to all schools including various boards. Similarly, madrasas in UP will now operate from 7:00 am to 12:30 pm.
In Bihar’s capital, Patna, schools have once again adjusted their timings due to the severe heatwave. Classes for students from 1st to 9th standard will be conducted only until 10:30 am, after which no classes will be held until 4:00 pm. Classes for students in 11th and 12th standard will run until 11:30 am. The District Magistrate has clearly stated in the new directive that all schools in Patna will remain closed from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm to mitigate the impact of the intense heatwave.
Announcement in Puducherry
In Puducherry, private and government schools have announced the commencement of summer vacations from April 29th until June 5th. According to the School Education Department, schools will remain closed during this period due to the extreme heat conditions, with classes scheduled to resume on June 6th. The Meteorological Department has forecasted a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius in the state from April 29th to May 2nd.
