School Holiday 2024, Relief for Students as Vacations Announced

Punjab’s school students have reason to rejoice as the government has declared a holiday on May 10, Friday, on the occasion of Lord Parshuram Jayanti. On this day, schools, colleges, government offices, and other commercial establishments across the state will remain closed. Prior to this, a government holiday was observed statewide on May 1 due to Labor Day.

School Closure in Certain Uttar Pradesh Districts on May 7

Voting for the third phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections is scheduled for May 7. In anticipation of this, schools in various districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Sambhal, Hathras, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etah, and Badayun, will be closed on that day.

Local Holiday in Bikaner

A local holiday is announced in Bikaner on Thursday, May 9, on the occasion of Bikaner Establishment Day (Akha Teej). The district collector has issued orders for two local holidays for the year 2024, including Akshaya Tritiya (Bikaner Establishment Day) and the Punarvasu Hanuman Fair. Accordingly, local holidays will be observed in the district on May 9, 2024, for Akshaya Tritiya, and on September 10, 2024, for the Punarvasu Hanuman Fair.

Schools and Colleges Closed in Manipur on May 6-7

Due to changing weather conditions and heavy rainfall alerts, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has declared a two-day holiday for schools and colleges. A post on social media platform X stated that a holiday has been declared on May 6 and 7, during which all schools and colleges will remain closed.

Summer Breaks Begin in Several States

It’s worth mentioning that April marked the beginning of summer vacations in several states across the country. States like Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, and Tripura have already initiated their summer breaks. Now, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan are set to commence theirs in May.
