It’s good news for school students as summer holidays have been announced in various states. Following the conclusion of board exams, schools have begun to declare summer vacation schedules. States like Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Chandigarh have declared summer vacations for schools. During this time, schools will remain closed for about one and a half to two months.
Chandigarh: Summer Holidays from May to June
In Chandigarh, the Education Department has announced summer vacations for all government and aided schools from May 23 to June 30. However, teachers and staff will need to report on June 28 and 29. The new academic session will commence from July 1. Additionally, there are holidays scheduled for other occasions such as autumn break from October 29 to November 1, and winter holidays from December 26 to January 7.
Delhi: Summer Holidays from May to June
According to the Delhi School Education Directorate’s calendar for 2024, summer vacations in Delhi will be from May 11 to June 30, 2024. Teachers will resume on June 28. In addition to summer vacations, there are other holidays like Good Friday on March 29, Eid-ul-Fitr on April 11, Ram Navami on April 17, and Mahavir Jayanti on April 21.
Madhya Pradesh: Vacation from May to June
In Madhya Pradesh, summer vacations will start from May 1 and last until June 15, 2024. Teachers will also have vacations from May 1 to May 31, 2024. Major festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, and Christmas also have holidays allocated.
Tamil Nadu: Probable Early Summer Holidays
Due to the Lok Sabha elections on April 19, summer vacations in Tamil Nadu might start early from April 13 to June 15, 2024. However, an official announcement is yet to be made. Teachers will be engaged in the evaluation of answer scripts from April 23 to April 26. The last working day of the academic year will be April 26, and the reopening date will be announced later.
Andhra Pradesh: Extended Summer Holidays Expected
In Andhra Pradesh, considering the extreme heat and upcoming general elections, it’s likely that summer holidays will be from April 23 to June 13, 2024, spanning almost 50 days. However, an official announcement is awaited from the government.These announcements provide much-needed relief for students, teachers, and staff, allowing them to plan their vacations and activities accordingly.
