As the scorching heat of summer intensifies, states across India have begun declaring summer vacation schedules for schools, providing much-needed relief to students. With temperatures soaring, these holidays offer a respite from academic routines, allowing students to rejuvenate and enjoy some leisure time. Rajasthan: School Holiday till May 16th
In Rajasthan, all government and private schools, from nursery to eighth grade, will remain closed until May 16th, as announced by the district collector of Sirohi, Shubham Chaudhary. While classes up to eighth grade will continue until 10:00 AM in Nagaur, other classes will follow regular schedules.
Gujarat and Delhi: Summer Vacation Declared
In Gujarat, primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools have initiated their summer vacation from May 9th, extending until June 12th. This year, students will enjoy a 35-day summer break, with the new academic year commencing on June 13th. Similarly, schools in Delhi under government and aided administrations started their summer holidays from May 11th, lasting until June 30th. However, teachers are expected to attend from June 28th to 30th for pre-school preparations.
Uttar Pradesh: Summer Break from May 18th
Basic education schools under the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board will observe their summer vacation from May 18th until June 18th. As May 19th falls on a Sunday, the summer vacation will effectively begin from May 20th. With Eid-ul-Juha celebrations on June 17th, schools will reopen on June 18th. Principals have been directed to assign homework to students before the vacation begins, ensuring their engagement in academic activities during the break.
Other States
Several states including Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Puducherry, and Tripura have already commenced their summer holidays from the first week of April-May. Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are among the states expected to start their vacations from the second week of May.
