Significant Decline in the Indian Stock Market on the Last Trading Day of the Week

Today, on March 22nd, the Indian stock market witnessed a substantial decline during the early trading hours. According to reports, the Sensex plunged by 300 points at the beginning of the trading session, while the Nifty also showed weakness, dropping by 70 points.

During the initial trading period

19 out of the 30 stocks in the Sensex were in the red, indicating a bearish sentiment, while 11 stocks showed gains. Consequently, the Sensex commenced its trading day at 72,300 points, while the Nifty began at 21,940 levels after slipping by 70 points.

Furthermore, during the early trading session, the BSE Small Cap and Nifty Bank indices displayed slight gains. Among the top gainers in today’s market were prominent stocks such as Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma, Cipla, Infosys, BPCL, and Titan. Conversely, stocks like HCL Tech, Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, TCS, LTTS Mindtree, and Kotak Bank were among the top losers.

It’s worth noting that yesterday, on March 21st, the Indian stock market showcased significant bullish momentum. The Sensex surged by 539 points, closing at 72,641 levels, while the Nifty also witnessed a considerable jump of 172 points, ending the day at 22,011 levels.
