Following an inspection of the Jabalpur Book Fair, the Collector has directed the removal of books that are unavailable at the fair from the curriculum.
Background
A five-day book fair is currently underway in Jabalpur to curb the arbitrary actions of private schools and bookstores. The fair was inaugurated by Collector Deepak Kumar Saxena. The fair offers books to parents at reasonable prices and discounts. After inspecting the book fair, the Collector took a significant decision. Books that are not available at the fair will be removed from the curriculum.
Action Taken on Parent Complaints
Complaints have been raised by parents that certain books recommended by school administrations are not available at the fair. Vendors have stated that these books will be available at bookstores after the fair concludes. The unavailability of these books at the fair has raised concerns.
Order to Include Easily Available Books
Under the chairmanship of the Collector, a competent district committee formed under the Madhya Pradesh Private Schools Act 2017 has decided to remove the aforementioned books from the curriculum and include books readily available.
Schools Instructed to Notify District Education Officer within 24 Hours
School administrations have been instructed to inform the District Education Officer regarding replacement within 24 hours. Failure to comply with the order will result in action against the school management.
This decision aims to ensure the availability of essential books to students and to address concerns raised by parents during the book fair in Jabalpur.
