In the final match, the Sri Lankan team created a historic record by achieving the highest run chase in the history of women’s cricket. Pursuing a target of 302 runs set by South Africa, the Sri Lankan women’s team scored 305 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 44.3 overs. This chase surpasses the previous record held by Australia’s women’s team.

During this innings, Athapaththu scored 195 runs with the help of 26 fours and 5 sixes off 139 balls. With this score, Chamari Athapaththu became the third highest run-scorer in women’s ODI cricket. This is her highest individual score. Prior to this, Chamari had played an innings of 178 runs against Australia in 2017.
