Amidst the scorching heat of summer, the Education Department of Rajasthan has declared a respite for all school students across the state. In a letter addressed to all district collectors, the department has officially announced holidays for both government and private schools from nursery to eighth grade, spanning from May 9th to May 16th. However, the regular schedule will continue for higher classes, with all teachers and staff expected to adhere to their respective duties.

Adjustments in school timings have been made in light of the prevailing weather conditions. For instance, in Sirohi district, schools from first to eighth grade will operate from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM until further notice. Similarly, in Barmer district, vacations have been declared for classes one to eighth due to extreme heat, with school timings reduced to 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
In Bharatpur, government and private schools will remain closed on May 11th due to heatwaves, and May 10th will be observed as Parshuram Jayanti, marking a holiday for schools. In Tonk, vacations have been declared until May 11th for classes one to eight, with additional holidays on May 10th for Parshuram Jayanti and May 12th being a Sunday.
Changes in school timings have been implemented across various districts
In Jaisalmer, schools for classes one to eight will operate from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM, with classes concluding by 11:00 AM. In Bikaner, all schools up to twelfth grade are mandated to conclude academic activities by noon. Failure to comply with this directive will result in disciplinary action as per the regulations for both government and private institutions.
In Nagaur, classes up to eighth grade will be held from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM until May 16th. Similarly, in Jhalawar, school timings for classes one to eighth have been adjusted to 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM. In Ajmer, classes for ninth to twelfth grade will continue until 11:30 AM.
Furthermore, in Uttar Pradesh, Hathras Basic Education Officer has announced holidays for all schools from nursery to eighth grade on Akshaya Tritiya, May 10th. In Punjab, a government holiday has been declared on May 10th, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram. Similarly, the Haryana government has announced closures for all schools in cities like Faridabad, Dayalbagh, and Gurugram on May 11th and 12th, 2024.
